Cardiologist & Advanced Echocardiography Specialist
I am a cardiologist and internationally recognised echocardiography specialist with expertise across the full spectrum of cardiovascular care—from risk assessment and preventive cardiology through to complex and critical heart conditions. My practice includes advanced cardiac imaging, structural heart intervention guidance, valvular heart disease, heart failure, sports cardiology and cardio-oncology.
After graduating Dux of Prince Alfred College and completing my medical degree at the University of Adelaide, I undertook physician and cardiology training at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney and The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane—Australia’s leading centre for cardiothoracic care. My advanced imaging training continued with a subspecialty fellowship at St Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, an international leader in valve innovation, where I gained extensive experience in TOE-guided structural intervention, electrophysiology support and stress echocardiography. During this time, I was part of the team guiding the first two in-man percutaneous mitral valve replacements as well as supporting numerous percutaneous aortic valve replacements.
Since 2014, I have served as Clinical Lead of Echocardiography at The Canberra Hospital, where I introduced contrast and strain imaging, 3D transoesophageal echo, and exercise and dobutamine stress echocardiography. I practise according to the highest international standards, attending national and international conferences annually and maintaining rigorous ongoing education. I hold Diplomate status with the American National Board of Echocardiography and am a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography.
I remain committed to teaching, research and mentoring. My work has been published in national and international journals, and I regularly present at cardiology meetings. I teach as a clinical lecturer at the Australian National University and supervise cardiology trainees and junior doctors.
I consult and perform procedures at Canberra Heart Clinic, National Capital Private Hospital, and The Canberra Hospital.
Outside medicine, I enjoy time with my wife and two children, cycling, skiing, photography, yoga, and perfecting the art of making coffee.
